Magee corduroy trousers - fit for a king

Magee corduroy trousers - fit for a king

Luxurious corduroy in vibrant red, mid blue, and country green: just three of the many trouser fabric options in Magee's new personal tailoring range. For country walks, for a day at the races, for standing on the rugby touchline, or for relaxing at home on a winter's evening, I know these Magee cords are going to be favourite items for many of my customers.

Magee's corduroy is a rich fabric with a wide wale. Eight wales (or ridges) per inch give a substance that provides not only warmth but a superior drape. The closely woven reverse of the fabric gives a smooth and comfortable feel against the skin. Light reflects slightly differently off the nap from different angles, giving an attractive fluid appearance. For comfort, good looks, and practicality, I'm confident these Magee 100% cotton cords are hard to beat.

Colours in the new Magee personal tailoring corduroy trousers selection include vibrant deep red, mid blue, country green (olive), gold, burgundy, salmon pink, and dark navy blue. As well as complementing a check tweed sports jacket or a woollen jumper, these cord trousers look superb with our Anatomic Gel footwear - especially the brown Natal slip-on boot.

Contact us on 01874 623613 or by email if you would like to find out more about Magee personal tailoring, see the Magee range in our shop, or ask about our travelling tailor service.

We also stock Meyer heavyweight corduroy trousers: these are available to buy in our online shop.

New handwoven Donegal tweed from Magee's personal tailoring range

Magee have introduced a new range of top quality handwoven Donegal tweed into their personal tailoring fabrics. The natural heather shades are inspired by the Donegal landscape. A small number of weavers work from their own homes in south-west Donegal to produce this beautiful fabric.

The new selection includes herringbone tweeds and salt and pepper tweeds in traditional shades of the heathers in the Donegal countryside  - greens, browns, blues, and greys, with subtle hints of red, mauve, and yellow in some of the checks and flecks. The fabrics have a lovely texture and I know this range will please many of my regular customers seeking suits, jackets, trousers, and overcoats. The different fabrics will appeal to a variety of gentlemen for a variety of uses in town and country.

The photo below gives a glimpse of some of the Donegal tweed herringbones and salt and pepper fabrics now available. The colours do not always reproduce well on computer screens - do get in touch on 01874 623613 or by email if you would like to see these fabrics at our shop in Brecon or discuss our travelling tailor service.

Magee menswear's new personal tailoring range: a box of delights!

Magee menswear's new personal tailoring range: a box of delights!

The new menswear personal tailoring range from Magee of Ireland is now available. Samples of the fabrics, linings, buttons, collar felts, and threads are displayed in a splendid presentation box. This makes it easy for customers to view the whole personal tailoring range and make their selection.

Among the new range of fabrics are handwoven Donegal tweed, country sports tweed, corduroy, moleskin, cavalry twill, blazer fabrics, and formal suit styles including pin stripe, chalk stripe, herringbone, bird's eye, and Prince of Wales check.

A customer has already commented to me that "The great thing about this Magee selection is that there's something for everyone". I couldn't agree more. For formal wear and for casual wear, for business and for leisure, for mature gentlemen seeking traditional style and for young men wanting a fashionable burst of colour, and with different weights and styles for all seasons, this Magee personal tailoring range is a wonderful addition to our existing made to measure options for our customers.

Contact us on 01874 623613 or by email if you would like to find out more about our personal tailoring, made to measure, and travelling tailor services, or would like to talk to us about making an appointment for a consultation.

Best braces for bikers

Best braces for bikers

It was lovely to receive an email from Mrs Griffiths of Clydach, Swansea about our extra strong braces. Mr and Mrs Griffiths visited the shop recently, looking for trouser braces. Not just any braces, but braces that would securely grip Mr Griffiths' motorbike leathers. We had just what he needed. Our extra strong braces have wide clips that grip strongly and won't let go - even when attached to heavy leather biking trousers.

As Mrs Griffiths said: "they turned out to be fantasic, exactly what my husband wanted". These wide, strong braces are great for this specialist use for bikers as well as for everyday use, and we are very grateful to Mr and Mrs Griffiths for spreading the word about them to their motorcycling friends.

E-commerce website goes live

The Aidan Sweeney e-commerce website is going live this week.

The process starts on Monday 15th August and the new e-commerce website should be visible to all internet browsers within two days. If you are reading this news item, you are successfully viewing the new website.

The website allows you to see our online shop, select products from it, and pay securely for them via Sage Pay's fully encripted online payment system. You can also research our made to measure menswear, and see the other products we have available in our shop in Brecon. There are also products we can order for you, such as Triumph and Sloggi underwear for men and women in hard-to-find sizes. There is a search box on every page of the website so you can easily type in what you are looking for. All our contact details are on the website, so you can phone or email us with any queries.

We're grateful to Hannah and the team at Iconography for their work on the new Aidan Sweeney ecommerce website. We look forward to finding out what you think of it - do get in touch to let us know!

Our online shop is in addition to our shop in Brecon. We continue to welcome customers in Brecon - and if you arrive on a special occasion you will also be greeted by Brecon's Town Crier outside the Market Arcade.

New e-commerce website for Aidan Sweeney - going live soon

New e-commerce website for Aidan Sweeney - going live soon

The Aidan Sweeney e-commerce website will be going live soon. This is an exciting step for us, and will allow you to "click and buy" online.

We have had a brochure website for over a year, and are very grateful to Jason and Jenna at Designer Websites in Barry for their work on this initial website. This site has been a great first step into the internet for us, and has enabled us to serve many new customers in the UK and abroad. It was always our aim to expand this further into an e-commerce site once we felt the time was right.

For several months we have been working with Iconography of Somerset on developing our e-commerce site. We hope the new site will be live within the next week.  The historic double-faced clock, looking out over Brecon's Market Hall and over our shop in the Market Arcade, is counting down to the launch! If you are reading this, the ecommerce site has already gone live and you are able to view our products and "click and buy" in the online shop.
