Limited supplies of Wolsey Cardinal calf length socks available

Wolsey have discontinued their Cardinal calf-length socks, but we do have some sizes still available in black, mid-grey, and rustic brown. Contact us on 01874 623613 to check we have the size and colour you need.

Wolsey Cardinal socks have been popular with our customers for may years, and we were disappointed when Wolsey discontinued them. We made sure we had plenty available for our regular customers, but now - inevitably - stocks are running low. We have some left in mid grey, rustic brown, and black. Do please phone us first on 01874 623613 before trying to order, so we can check that we have the size and colour combination you require.

Wolsey/Morley Grip Top socks are a good alternative if you would like a longer, knee length sock from this manufacturer. We have these famous red-topped Grip Top socks in charcoal, mid-grey, rustic brown, and navy blue.

Seersucker tablecloths & other household favourites on show for Food Festival

Our traditional household favourites - seersucker tablecloths, Jolly Molly Oven Gloves, waffle weave tea towels, roller towels, range towels, and linen dishcloths - will have pride of place in our displays during the Brecon Beacons Food Festival.

We're expecting a busy day here in the Market Arcade when the annual celebration of local food and drink takes place on Saturday 5th October, centred on the Market Hall.

The Food Festival includes celebrity chef bake-offs, cooking demonstrations, and over 70 Welsh food and drink producers exhibiting and selling their wares. Admission is free, and the Food Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. 

As you head down the Market Arcade to the Food Festival, our shop is on the left. We'll have plenty of our traditional seersucker tablecloths, Jolly Mollys, tea towels, roller towels, range towels, and linen dishcloths available. Call in and see us - we look forward to seeing you!

Wolsey Cardinal calf length socks are in stock here at Aidan Sweeney's in Brecon. You can phone us on 01874 623613 to place an order, or order securely online.

Cardinal socks are favourites with many of our customers who prefer a half-hose style that does not go all the way up to the knee. They are quite hard to find now, but we currently have good stock levels in most sizes.

We have Wolsey Cardinals in mid grey, black, and rustic brown.

For those of you who prefer knee length socks, we recommend the famous red-topped Grip Tops from Wolsey/Morley, which are available in mid grey, charcoal, rustic brown, and navy blue.

Bow ties and braces to Jazz up your outfit

The world-famous Brecon Jazz Festival takes place on 9th-11th August, and we have some colourful bow ties and braces to help you jazz-up your outfit for the weekend.

Bright red braces with strong clip ends come in standard length, extra long, and extra-extra long. Leather end braces are available too.

Paisley pattern braces in red and in blue also come in three lengths for your comfort.

Ready tied bow ties are available in gold, bright blue, and wine.

Charcoal Grip Top knee length socks replace black Grip Tops

When Wolsey Grip Top knee length men's socks were recently rebranded with the name Morley, black Grip Tops were replaced with charcoal Grip Tops, which are very dark grey.

We've had some queries from customers about this, as black was a popular choice. Our advice would be to have the charcoal Grip Top socks as a replacement. The traditional Grip Top quality is well-known, and the charcoal colour is very appropriate for wear with dark suits and other business/formal wear. The charcoal is a very dark grey and is certainly a smart option.

Grip Top knee length socks: brand name changed from Wolsey to Morley

Grip Top knee length socks are back in stock. They used to be know as Wolsey Grip Top socks, and are now re-branded "Morley". Morley, established in 1795, is owned by Wolsey of Leicester. These Morley Grip Tops are the same material, from the same firm, with the same famous red top as the original Wolsey Grip Tops.

We have Grip Top socks available in our shop in Brecon and in our online shop in four colours: mid grey, rustic brown. charcoal, and navy blue. Black has been discontinued, but the charcoal Grip Tops are a good replacement, and go well with dark suits and other formal wear.

Grip Tops come in 3 sizes: UK shoe size 6-8 (Euro 40-42), UK shoe size 9-10 (Euro 43-45), and UK shoe size 11-12 (Euro 46-47). All are now available online (click any of the red links on this page to go to the sock pages) and in our shop in Brecon.

Red spotted neckerchiefs on the ocean wave!

Our red spotted neckerchiefs are part of the club kit at Clevedon Pilot Gig Club, and we're delighted to receive another update on the club's progress from secretary Richard James. 

Club membership goes from strength to strength. In May over 70 members of the club travelled to the Isles of Scilly for the annual World Pilot Gig Championships. This was the largest contingent of any club - just four years after the club was founded, and a year after the club took part in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames.

Richard tells us "Instructions were that all members had to be correctly attired in matching club kit to include their red neckerchiefs, courtesy of Aidan Sweeney."  Club members in their uniform are shown with their two gigs, Blackbird and Watch and Pray, in the photo taken on the beach at Hugh Town. 

We're pleased the club is flourishing, and glad to hear from Richard that "The Club now has over 100 regular rowing members and our stock of neckerchiefs is almost out, so we will undoubtedly be back in the near future for a further supply!" We'll be glad to help, and look forward to hearing more about the club's progress.
